Two Cat Portrait in Oils
Welcome to our two cat portrait in oils of Sammy. This piece was hand-painted by professional artist Nicholas Beall using traditional oil paints on Italian linen canvas. Oils are ideal for cat portraits, allowing Nicholas to capture the fine, soft textures of feline fur with incredible detail using delicate brushes and fine-grain canvas.

Commission of Sammy – Two Cat Portrait in Oils
Gary White from the USA contacted Nicholas in 2013 to commission a portrait of his beloved cat Sammy. A returning client, Gary has commissioned several portraits for himself and family members, all of which can be found across our galleries.
Very sadly, Sammy had passed away, and Gary wanted a portrait to honor his memory. He asked for two of Sammy’s typical poses to be combined into a single composition, and we selected two photos that worked perfectly together. Sammy’s calm, laid-back nature shines through in the finished piece.
The portrait was painted at 18 x 14 inches and framed with a black and silver frame, matched to other commissions Gary had previously ordered. A silver engraved plaque completed the look. Scroll down to read Gary’s emails and see photos of the framed painting.

Happy Client Testimonials
“Sammy's home. His spirit has always been with us and now his likeness is home. Our first comment was: Stunning! Sammy's head portion is almost 3-D. The background colour was superbly chosen and painted... What can I tell you Nick, but you should be proud of what you did for us. Thank you's don't seem enough!”
– Gary
“So pleased with Sammy Cat — the colour of his eyes, the tuft of fur on his paw, the regal look about him… all so real. I thank Nick for bringing him back into our lives.”
– Gary
“Still dark here in Oklahoma, but it's a favourite time of day. We're anxious to receive Nick's rendering of Sammy Cat, and hopefully soon I'll get in line for him to paint our departed Chow Chow, Murphy.”
– Gary
