Kitten Portraits – Cat Portraits in Oils: Sally
Welcome to our oil portrait of Sally, a sweet and much-missed kitten painted for a returning client in the USA. Nicholas specializes in painting cats and kittens in oils on canvas, and his work hangs in homes all around the world. This particular commission holds a special place in our hearts — Gary, who commissioned the piece, has ordered several portraits from us over the years, and it’s always a pleasure to hear from him again.
Commission of Sally
Sally’s portrait was commissioned by Gary White of Oklahoma as a surprise Christmas gift for his wife, Barbara. Tragically, Sally passed away at just 23 months old, and this portrait was a way of bringing her memory back into their home in a lasting and meaningful way.
Gary had only a few photos of Sally, but one in particular stood out — showing her perched by a window. Nicholas loved the scene and enjoyed painting not only Sally’s likeness but also the architectural details like the window and bricks, which gave the piece a strong sense of place and warmth.
