Cat Portraits – Oil Cat Portrait on Canvas: Puff
Welcome to the oil cat portrait of Puff, traditionally hand-painted in oils on canvas by professional artist Nicholas Beall. When our client sent us the photo, we knew it would be a unique piece — not just Puff, but the surrounding objects like the keyboard and glasses case presented an exciting challenge for Nicholas. He loved every minute of bringing this scene to life using traditional oils on Italian linen canvas.

Commission of Puff
This cat portrait was commissioned by Kristin Strickland in 2015 as a surprise gift for her husband, Jeff. Their beloved cat Puff had sadly passed away at a young age due to a heart condition, and this portrait was to be a comforting and lasting reminder of the time they shared together.
Puff used to sit at Jeff’s desk just as you see him in the painting, next to the keyboard. Nicholas captured this memory perfectly on a 16 x 16 inch canvas, and the painting became an immediate talking point in our studio — visitors were drawn to Puff’s gaze and the wonderful scene. The finished painting was framed by Jane, our local framer, in a gold and bronze frame that complements the colors beautifully.

“It’s here!!! It’s magnificent. You were able to capture Puff and we both teared up when we opened it. Once we hang it we will send you a picture. Thanks again for everything :)”
